Canon Digital IXUS 860 IS

Pros

8 Megapixel sensor yields detailed images

Optical 3.8x zoom has a useful 28mm wide angle, so you can fit more into the picture. Most other cameras wide angle is only around 35mm.

Useful optical image stabilisation

Great 3-inch screen is a real eye-catcher

Fast operation thanks to Digic III processing

Lower picture noise than Canons 12-Megapixel IXUS 960 IS

Face detection function works well

Small enough to carry with you at all times

Cons

No optical viewfinder

Plastic construction gives a less solid feel when compared with the excellent build quality of the Titanium skinned Canon IXUS 960 IS

No fully manual mode

Competitive Internet price: c £205 inc. VAT

Star Rating: 9 Stars  Whilst this 8-Megapixel camera is cheaper than the top of the range 12-Megapixel Canon IXUS 960 IS, its lower noise, and wider angle lens makes it as good as the 960 IS. This great little camera produces high quality images and is a joy to use.
